Half the year we live in Colorado in the beautiful Rocky Mountains. This is the first time I’ve
painted a mountain scene in one of my window pieces. We live in a log cabin that we built ourselves and I used one of my cabin windows as a model.
It was fun to paint pine trees because I am so used to painting palm trees and using tropical colors. The bridle hanging from the windowsill is an antique I borrowed from my good neighbor Betty. I started with a warm toned under painting. This allowed me to build up the subtle browns and greens in the landscape that so typify the western landscape.
